well my grand plan went completely tits up

we almost did the exact opposite of what I thought we should do.

Not pick heywood-bey, go wr then dt or dt then wr

so we reach like mr fantastic for bey then when Brace falls into our lap in the second we trade the pick to the Pats so we can blow the pick on a superfast safety.

Now i have calmed down a little what we have done is basically gambled on potential and what we think these two players will do not what they have done. High high ceilings on their talent level but also rock bottom floors as well. This has been a major risk on the first day and if one of them pays off then I guess it is not all the waste of picks it looks to all the pundits and critics.

The good news is more picks to come and for the love of jeebus can we pick some defensivc lineman you know the biggest need on the team in stopping the run.

I think in the overall scheme of things we have done quite well and the only major mistake was taking Mitchell in the second roun when we could have picked him up in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or even an undrafted signing.  For me, this was a huge mistake on maximising our potential for higher ranked players that were available at positions we needed.

I thought Heyward-Bey was a good choice as Crabtree had already made it quite clear that he would not be happy to play for us if picked and Heyward-Bey seems to bring the skills (slthough, might need a year or two) that would fit well into our offence.

I also thought trading our number 8 pick in the second round was a stroke of genious knowing that maualua (?) had already gone in that round and secured us 2 more picks plus only dropping another 7 places in round 2.  A good deal I thought until that pick was, in my opinion, wasted on a guy that would have gone a lot later, if at all.

Another real plus is that Denver are having a mare with this draft so at least some of the focus has been taken off of us.
