Hello guys and girls.

What can I say. What a bloody weekend and some very hard work getting this back on.

I will let you all know what happened. Obviously the site went down over the weekend. I was thinking this was because the servers had gone down over the weekend and everyone would have been away so it would be fixed Monday morning.

This was not the case. After a little googling to search for the problem I found out that the company that hosted us went out of business with no warning whatsoever. This left us in the crapper as all the files and databases were still on those servers which were locked down so we could not retrieve them.

The one good thing was that we brought and parked the domain name on a massive companies site so at least we could re-point to different servers if necessary (I have read about loads cases of people who had registered domains with the bust company and they will have to wait a few weeks to prove ownership etc to get them back).

I found a forum that had all the info I needed yesterday regarding the company and other clients that had been using them (this was 64 pages of posts in 2 days) we were all wondering how to retrieve the files and get it going again. As a favour, the owner of the company who rented the servers to our old hosting company had come on to say that he was prepared to migrate the files locally as he has the servers but had locked them down as our old company had not paid his bills for a few months.

Within 3 hours we now had the new host with all the files migrated over.  I haven't been able to get hold of the watchman for the past few days but got an e-mail this morning with the domain name account so have pointed it all in the right direction and we're off and running again.

So to sum up, we are really sorry for the downtime. This was totally out of our hands and did not have a clue how serious the problem was until yesterday morning and since then have worked tirelessly to get the situation resolved.

I thank you for your patience and welcome back to ukraidernation.co.uk

Good job! I haven't been able to log in for over a week and was getting withdrawal symptoms.

Nice to have it back.

hey guys, welcome back. As I had been working in Newcastle I had no access to interweb so hadn't noticed the site had gone down. Thanks to Gaz for sorting all the crap out though.

This morning I noticed we had 5 guests online 1 0f which was printing this topic. The IP address was not one associated with any of our members.

Have you ever considered changing the board so that it is black on a white background? I think that'd be more user friendly.

thanks sunbeam, hadn't thought about that. Maybe we could have 2 themes and users choose?
