I take it we're talking about normal footie here.  Not that interested in it but I will watch the champs league games and internationals.  I used to support Man Utd with a passion when I was younger but along came American football and that was that.

I watch quite a bit at the weekends but wouldn't consider myself a fan. Used to be a Dundee United supporter in my youth but the tablets have helped.

I'm going to have to boo Gaz for being a United fan. I'm sure your all aware that I'm a Man City fane and have been for 30 odd years. My dad is a blue but he didn't force me to be a City fan.

I lived in Warrington for awhile which is made up of  fans for all 4 of the big clubs of Manchester and Merseyside. I nearly became a fan of each and everyone but I remember when I was about 6 maybe 7 being in the car with my dad and the results came on - City had lost again but I was gutted, absolutely gutted. I knew from that moment I was a blue and there was no going back.

FA Cup Quarter Finals today and tomorrow. First up United and Portsmouth. Pompey haven't beaten Utd in the cup away from home for over 100 years. Guess it'll be 101 after today.

Chelsea play Barnsley later - cant see the Tykes causing the same kind of upset as they did last time at Liverpool.

Who would have thought that we would end up with a Portsmouth/Barnsley final?

Well that is still a possibility. Middlesbrough take on Cardiff and West Brom play Bristol Rovers later.

You could still have a final without a Premiership team - though I suspect that Boro will play Pompey. Brother in law is a Boro fan so I guess I should be rooting for them now. Not a massive Cardiff fan, and the father in law is a Wolves fan so that rules out the Baggies.

I wonder what the odds would have been that none of the top 6 teams from the Premier League would not make through to the final?

Huge, and its nice to see. Thats what football is all about - we dont want the top 4 dominating everything. The last time a team outside of the top 4 won the FA Cup was Everton in 1995, in 1991 you had Spurs v Forest in the final which was the last time none of the top 4 were in the final.

Well after the excitement of the weekend the semi-finals are

Barnsley v Cardiff
WBA V Portsmouth

and in a way I would like Portsmouth to lose so we can have 2 Championship sides in the final.

An interesting weekend right enough. Some good games and I was impressed with the Cardiff performance. It would seem obvious that Portsmouth, as the sole Premier League team remaining, would be the favourites. But their achievement is far outshined by the other three.

Too close to call for the final.

I think I would prefer WBA v Cardiff. But whaatever way it falls it will make for quite a spectacle.
