For a split second i read that and thought Al Davis !

Gruden winds me up, did that that year when Ohio State were trying to offer him the job, he didnt come out and say 'no' he just let it drag on and on.

He doesnt seem to have said yes/no to this one, yeah he apparently said 'i love working at ESPN' but then hes apparently meeting with them anyway ?

Would like him to come back to the NFL , hopefully not to college

Pah with Gruden you just dont know

Ohio State job in 2001 ?  Just say yes or no !

'I'm not leaving Oakland, got unfinished business' - a few months later gone.

Now hes saying hes helping look for a new coach (why ?) and he wants to stay with ESPN.  Yeah right.

Loved what he did with the Raiders but with the media i wish he would have been a bit more honest.  Didnt shoot down those rumours about Ohio State that year, played that game with his agent with the Raiders saying he would 100% the next year once his contract was up (despite telling the fans he was going to stay).

So if Al Davis hired Jon Gruden again to coach the Raiders; would you be happy about it!

If we were 4-12 and then hired Gruden, then yes.  If we finish 8-8 this year, Cable goes and Gruden comes in then i wouldnt be.

We'll instantly get a 36 year old QB (Gruden tried doing a 'Gannon' in Tampa with Garcia but it didnt work).  We'll instantly be in tons of 21-20 type scorelines, then when it comes to the playoffs we'll go conservative.

I do like Gruden but in some ways i think his time has come and gone.  He took over a great team in Tampa and won the SB, but after that didnt do much, tried doing an 'Oakland' there with a veteran QB, veterans from other teams and failed.

If we were a 3-13 type team then Gruden would be a great signing, get the fans back onside etc.  I feel we've got a very good team with a lot of young talent, i wouldnt want a coaching change.

I too like Gruden but support your contention that he would not necessarily be an upgrade to Cable. Besides after all the work that Cable has put in with this team it would be good to see where it goes next season regardless of the outcome this season.
