HIGH COST OF LOSING / RAIDERS: With only five selections, Oakland needs to choose wisely

http://www.mercurynews.com/timkawakami/ci_8991884

The first article author, not what you would consider a fan of the Raiders. The second one doesn't like the 49ers either.

Kawakami thinks Jake Long, Ghoulston and Dorsey will be the top 3. That would leave us Chris Long and McFadden to choose from.
Personally think both Longs will be gone as will Dorsey.

Leaves us with Ghoulston. But I think we could take Ellis if we don't get Dorsey. We still need to firm up the middle of the D.

nfl draft / In Davis' world, it's athlete over pressing need

This is pretty good - and at the bottom there is a recap of what the pundits think. One has us taking Ryan Clady - OT!! Cant see that.

The article makes good points as to Al's way of thinking. I'm not sure its the right move but I do think McFadden will be a Raider.

I fear that it may be true, but I hope for some sense being shown. We will need a great deal of luck later in the draft to get decent lineman if we take McFadden. Besides, even if we do take him how well does he run with a couple of defensive linemen or linebackers hanging off him that get through the gaps in our line.

This is a realistic shot at what we need based on the gaps we have. Trouble is, I suspect it will not be what we do.

Long, Long Day At The Top? - NBC Sports Blogs

If this is true, looks like Defense for the Raiders pick in the first round.

In a way I hope someone else drafts McFadden, that would force the Raiders to do something else.

I can't see it. The Rams have Steven Jackson and Travis Minor and the Falcons have Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood so I suspect they will pass on McFadden.

They were saying today on NFL network that the Rams will pick either Chris Long or Doresy, Falcons pick Matt Ryan and we get either Either Long or Gholston. But I can not see Al Davis letting the Chiefs have Howie's son facing him twice a year.

If Chris Long is available, Al might even pass on McFadden to take him. I'm still hoping for Dorsey, but it is a faint hope.

I wrote that with the hope it would be the fish that took him.....

There are rumours on profootballtalk of the saints wanting to trade to 2 to get Dorsey and the Jets to 3 to get McFadden,I can't see these days those kind of deals going through which was why I thought the Dallas trade would never happen butg it looks like the first hour of the draft will see a bit of excitement even though Miami have already picked.
