Welsh_Raiders Wish List

These are the players Id love us to target.
Round 2 - Derrek Sherrod OL, Ben Ijalan OL, James Carpenter OL, Ras I Dowling CB, Aaron Willians CB/S,
Round 3 - Stefen Wisniewski C/G, Quan Sturdivant LB, Marcus Gilchrist CB/S
Round 4 - Virgil Green TE, John Moffit OG, Jake Kirk Patrick C/G, Greg Jones LB, Casey Matthews LB, Chimbi Chewka CB,
Round 5 - Derrick Locke RB, Noel Divine RB, Lee Zimba OL, Mark Herzlich LB, DeMarcus Van Dyke
Round 6 - Tyrod Taylor QB, Pat Devlin QB, Steve Schilling OG, Deunta Williams FS, Demarcus Love OL
Round 7 Mario Fannin RB, Jeff Mahl WR, Kenny Rowe LB
As you can see I think our main needs are obvious O-line. Whether it be Tackle Guard or Centre, Id quite like Linebacker to come into the rotation and compete with Goethel to start at weak side linebacker, and maybe the back up MLB as Im not a fan of Ricky Brown.
Obviously there are some players that will not fall that far but you never know, I mean Sergio Kindle was a top 10 pick that went in the second. Some had Jimmy Clausen top 10 and look at him, andeven Colt Mccoy. And then Evertte Brown or was it Everson Griffin? i forget. He was a top 30 pick that went in the 4th so you just never know.
After O-line we obviously need a corner, but also if Huff goes, we need a like for like replacement.
After that Id like a runningback. Even if Bush stays, we really missed Mcfadden when he was injured so we really need a speed merchant, because you need that chaneg of pace.
After that either Tight End or a QB for depth and develop for the future. So I reckon O-line, Corner, Safety, Linebacker, QB then Tight End.
Id be pissed if we went D-line as we very very strong there, and already have alot of money invested there. And I expect us to go for a big name WR in free agency, and I dont see how another youngster can help our current corps.

Have to say there are a few guys listed that I would like the Raiders to get but don't see it somehow. If they got Ijalan and Dowling with possibly Wisniewski it would be a start. They would have to do some smart horse trading to get them though.

With KC adding another big target to go opposite Bowe, and the whole Aso situation, I think a physical CB is a must, Dowling would be my pick.
Kaepernick would be a nice glamor " face of franchise" pick that Hue may like, but it wouldnt help us win now.
JC had two 90+, and two 100+ rating games in December, So we need to get him resigned beyond 2011.
I wouldnt mind a late round punt on Jeff Van Camp as a developmental QB.
I like Virgil Green, but I think Hue prefers Jordan Cameron.
Cameron looks like a prototypical Al Davis project, and we know he loves USC guys...
"Jordan Cameron/TE/USC — Cameron posted the second-best 40-yard dash time for tight ends (4.59) and best three-cone time (6.82) at the position. Cameron, who has excellent size (6’5 1/8", 254), only played tight end during his senior season. He played wide receiver in previous seasons. He also played college basketball. Because of his lack of experience at tight end, he’ll have to be brought along slowly at the NFL level."
Speaking of USC please let us spend a late pick on WR Ronald Johnson.

The way they board is falling to us, I think Kapernick could actually fall to us. The only reason Im against this pick is because we havent had a first rounder. So like you say it wouldnt help us win now.
But were picking at a similar spot to last years 2(after the trade) so lets hope we get a similar talent ot Lamarr Houston.
I still want a O-lineman purely because I feel like we'll get a CB in round 3 or 4.

La Canfora is saying Miami Considered Kaepernick with #15 overall, and now want to move up to get him as they dont have a 2nd round pick, he also says thier main competition is Oakland.
Given the history of Al being able to swing trades with Belicheck, we could be looking to move upto #33, you can bet BB will ask for ANOTHER first if we want to move up 15 spots( seriously ..how many first round picks does that guy need in 2012)
Miami has no chance of getting a #33 from a division rival, so Oakland probably has the inside track if they want to get the deal done, guess it comes down to how much leeway Hue has with the old man.
Bengals seem set on Dalton at 34, which is fine as i dont rate him, and La Canfora also said some GM's think Mallet will fall into the third round and we all know how Al loves big arms .......
Will be an interesting day, I cant wait

Id be very surprised if the Pats stay at 33. Surely someone is going to have their heart set on a player. I mean teams still need a QB and will be jockeying for position.
I mean the Benegals, Bills and Cards could all need a QB and will want to get ahead of each other. Obviously the Bills cant move up, but teams could get ahead of them. Also the 49ers, and they have a ton of picks so could easily move around. But I honestly thought they'd want Ponder in the second.
Ive said all along I could see us moving up 10 spots or so, but to be honest I dont want to see us give away any more picks. In fact Id like to see us get a few more. Especially as we've had alot of recent success in rounds 4-7.
I think all the rumours about us wanting Kapernick is a smoke screen. I mean when have the media ever been right about our pick.

Bitterly dissapointed at undoing the solid work in the 2nd round, by selecting a couple of long term prospects in the 3rd.
Both VanDyke and Barksdale would have been around in the 5th
Somebody needs to take that stopwatch away from Davis, He will probably be buried with it.
VanDyke..good grief
We undid all the good work of resisting a trade up for a QB and not throwing a #1 away next year, only to give away a 2nd to trade up to take someone whom i graded as a 5th rd project.
And what may turn out to be nothing more than a guard has made me livid.
Al save this draft now, by taking your USC Boys Ronald Johnson/Jordan Cameron,Cannon, nabbing Jeff VanCamp late on to develop and avoiding Buster Skrine.
Just forget about drafting any defense the rest of the way, with bresnahan it would be wasted anyways.
When I thinbk of Baldwin lining up opposite a chickennecked 175lb corner who doesnt like run support, I think I am almost read to cry.
Wisniewski Grade B - (bit of a reach, but a need)
VanDyke Grade C-
Barksdale Grade C ( but value wise and what we gave up its a D)

Ok calmed down a bit, DVD was a reach , but Barksdale might pan out, walterfootball loved him entering this season. said he had legit LT potential.
Still gave up a lot for him. Next years draft will be loaded at QB and we could have used that 2nd to get our QBOTF. We may regret that bigtime. Esp if we cant resign JC.

I do expect us to swing a deal for Alex Smith before camp opens. Al seems to like him and with Niners taking Kaepernick, he would probably sign with us.

I like the Barksdale pick. Apparently he was awesome at Right Tackle but struggled this year at Left tackle, hence why he slid. Plug him opposite Veldheer and be done.
And I havent got a problem giving away next year second. We needed the extra picks because we have so many holes. Fill a few more through Free agency and we'll be fine.
If Campbell doesnt play great this year, then I wouldnt using a first rounder next year on a QB.

I'm not too sure what to think, just learnt from many past drafts not to have any knee jerk reactions. Eagle fans booing McNabb (6 or so NFC East titles, 5 NFC Championship games, 1 SB appearance).
Go back to the 2003 draft and i bet there'll be Raider fans moaning about Nmandi once we picked him
Yeah we go for speed, the one time we didnt go for speed (HB Chris Johnson) was a mistake ! Jacoby Ford last year people said the same 'Al and speed' line but that was a great pick.
Barksdale looks like he should start as a rookie at RT, CB 'Dick Van Dyke' looks like he needs some work but Rod Woodson scouted him so i think his view is far far better than mine.
Dont think we should trade for Alex Smith, having the fans shout Grads everytime Campbell threw an incompletion was bad enough last year.
I was gutted we didnt get a developmental QB, yeah Kaepernick would have excited me but i think we were sensible and went o-line/DB's/WR's.
Next year is QB rich so this year Campbell gets a year to show if he really can get it done and i reckon we'll pick one next year, got a 1st next year (Sadly no second though)

thing is the Raiders did need offensive line help and they got that from Wiz....
Draft can be weird as the Raiders have found a few sleeper in the past

I feel a bit better after reading up on Moore, he was the only WR in FBS that had two 200+ yard games last year, plus Al will like his 4.37.
We could be looking at a guy who can be moulded to replace DHB or Chaz"China Bones" Schilens.

Which do you think is the more likely to be replaced? I'm thinking Schilens but i'm not very confident in that.

Really tough this year as the players are really resting up; this might be Schilen best year as he has been away from football for a long time; normally they have to show up for some training every now and then and this year lockout has kept the players away from camp....
So Schilen might be in the best health this year with having more rest time....
