Early I know, but I think valid since we've seen our roster take shape and have some clue as to what we've really got.

Anyone here seen much of Anthony 'Freak' Johnson: http://www.youtube.com/v/8j8WRoMkyIg&rel=1

With Seymour, Kelly and Henderson all the wrong side of 30 we need to be thinking about the next generation there. Would be remiss to see such a great strength become a weakness again.

Though a mite early, he does look to be a very good prospect. And you are right about looking to find eventual replacements for some of the D line and it would be good to have more depth there.

Obviously it depends where we pick, but I would be very surprised if we didnt go out and get a corner.

I know we drafted Van Dyke, they seem to want to move Chekwa to Safety, and CJ will more than likely be gone, so we need someone to play opposite Routt. With no second rounder, Id think we'd have to grab one in the first.

BUT

Alot depends on Jason Campbell, and I suppose Terrell Pryor. Campbells contract is up this year, so would it be out of the questions for us to get a QB

Personally Id like to see Campbell get atleast another 2 years, and see how Pryor develops underneath him.

I think us getting a QB doesn't make much difference to Campbell being here or not. How we see Pryor developing might be the difference maker on whether we pull the trigger early on a QB (that and if a really good one is available).

I don't believe Chekwa was tried at safety for anything other than developmental reasons, he was drafted as a corner, he has the body of a corner and I think he will play corner. Again how we see his development will impact whether we go early there. Same story with Campbell and Barksdale on the O-Line.

There aren't many glaring, massive, obvious weaknesses, but quite a few smaller ones. Most of what we draft will be down to who is there when we get to pick.

There was alot of talk at camp, and alot of draft experts stated that they believed Chekwa would end up playing Free Safety in the NFL.

With Huff playing some Nickel corner in certain packages we havent got that single deep safety, and I believe Chekwa could be that guy in those packages. Also with Hiram Eugene out injured, and Mike Mitchell missing alot of time, I believe we'll see alot more of Chekwa at safety.

As this is a very very strong year for QB's if they all declare that is, then it could be a perfect time to get one, but without alot of picks it could be seen as abit of a luxury pick, to go and get one if he isnt going to start for another 2 years or so.

When in reality the team still has alot of wholes, particulary at linebacker in the secondary and even on the O-line. As Cooper Carlisle wont last forever, Khalif Barnes is a stop gap, or depth player at best, and we have no idea what we have in Barksdale or Campbell.

He just seems somewhat undersized to be a Raiders safety. Giordano is 10lbs heavier, Huff and Branch are 15lbs heavier, Mitchell is 30lbs heavier.

The difference is that you can easily pick up potential starters at the interior line positions way down the draft and we haven't drafted a first round Lineman since Gallery in 2004 (or on D, Brayton in 2003). I have a feeling the Raiders are fairly stoked about their front 7 right now including the 3 over-sized LB starters Groves-McClain-Wimbley. And we really don't need any more safeties. But it's true that Al has found it difficult to resist splashing out on cornerbacks.

I also couldn't imagine Davis passing on someone like Griffin III dropped near us.

Did a quick search on here to find this from Jackson on CC:

“He’s like you said a guy that plays in the Big Ten and the Big Ten is known for running teams and all that. But I think he can do anything we need him to do. obviously we’re going to play him at corner. The guy has an unbelievable skill set because he’s a big guy, he’s a physical guy. He can get up in your face and put his hands on you and redirect you and get after you and run. So if wee needed him someplace else we’ll find that out as we move forward. But right now he’s just going to play corner for us.’’

Would be fucking brilliant if we ended up with 2 pro-bowlers for our 2 draft picks though Cheesy
