This race should be remembered for the battle between Rossi and Pedrosa that lasted for all but the last few laps of an exciting race, but what will actually be remembered is the performance of Jorge Lorenzo. Having been taken to hospital after a massive high side that saw him land heavily on his ankle he still managed to qualify in 5th place despite suffering a fracture of several toes and a chipped bone in the ankle.

In the race itself he initially looked very tentative and was passed by several riders before getting to grips with the pain and the bike and started a spirited fight back. He surprised spectators and commentators alike, to force his way back to a 4th place finish which ensured that he remained in touch with Pedrosa who takes over the lead in the chamionship. This performance is even more remarkable when you consider that he had surgery on his right arm a mere 2 weeks ago.

The battle for the win went eventually to Rossi who put in some electrifying laps to break away from Pedrosa and complete his first race win for seven races.  This puts the title race up for grabs with 4 possible contenders. Keeps the season interesting, as if it needed it. Roll on Le Mans!
