Hue Jackson still in as Oakland Raiders head coach

CBS analyst Charley Casserly said on The NFL Today pregame show Sunday that based on his conversations with Hue Jackson and his agent, the Raiders coach has not been fired.
Casserly said that Kennard McGuire, the agent for both Jackson and new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, told him that Jackson remained in place and that McKenzie planned to "come in this week and evaluate the entire organization."
On Fox NFL Sunday, analyst Jay Glazer reported McKenzie and Jackson would meet Monday, that McKenzie was "still evaluating," and that he believed Jackson would remain as head coach.
The Raiders, who made no announcements Sunday, have a press conference to introduce McKenzie Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Well there is a process of due diligence that comes in 2 parts:
a) Reviewing Hues performance whilst b) seeing who else is available.
Fact is there are better coaches out there with more experience and McKenzie will know plenty of them.
At this stage Hue is essentially going to be interviewing for the job.
In terms of tangible achievements you could say he's made a more potent offense in Oakland, but that really is it. His game management was poor at times, his player management was clearly not working when you see the obliterated record for penalties.
I'd be surprised if McKenzie wasn't simply looking to hire whichever experienced coach was available.

The thing is that Hue was a rookie coach and he made rookie mistake....but like you say, there are better coaches out there and they will come to Oakland now that Al Davis is not running the show.

Hue is going to be given another year. Our main problem was our defence and that fact Brensen was a poor dc, must admit thought he was crap first time we had him. Hopfully if we get a desent DC Sperano is my wish list. Remeber I think Hue's main beef will be that he could not pick his DC Brensen was Al's choice and I think he wants to pick his own.

I'm going to bet (just a sporting bet of course)
- McKenzie sacks Jackson, along with all of the other coaches on both sides of the ball
John Herrrera gets thrown out on his ass too.
A mass clear-out is coming, the coaches are just the start - next up will be a lot of players.

If the Raiders had a half-way decent DC, then we would have been in the playoffs.
Just gotta see what happens with Winston Moss, will he come to oakland and be a DC or does he want the HC job...

You could be right, but there isn't much of an infrastructure to clear out. Al Davis was unique, a monad, someone who relied on his own judgement and didn't build up large personnel groups beneath him. I expect a lot of hires that we probably don't even hear about.

^Agree with that. Yeah our defense was crap, to be fair to Al, Chuckie.B wasnt his first or second choice, but was turned down by the Jets for Thurman, then couldnt speak to Perry or Moss at GB so in the end Chuckie B who was only with us to coach LB's got the job.
Yep he did a bad job (i do also blame a lot of those players), but when you're 7-4 and 'apparently' headed towards the playoffs even with a terrible defense you DONT go changing your defensive coach. So you can see why he stayed the whole year.
Anyway now hes gone (thankfully) McKenzie can pick his own man. I think Hue deserves another shot, on offense he does a great job, he can work with Palmer another year. BUT his end of season interviews were cringeworthy and he really shot himself in the foot acting like Dennis Green Mk II.
I do think he should stay, hiring someone like Moss as HC not as def co ordinator i think is a huge risk. BUT whatever McKenzie does i'm following as i'm still ecstatic we have him.

There aren't that many to begin with.
Jackson wasn't HC material. But Id still like to see a detailed comment from McKenzie on his decision making process.
Very important that we improve our medical support structure. Brad Roll + lint counts for sod all.

Hope we dont go for Moss, dont rate him.
Would like Al Saunders, just for offensive continuity, but he is Hue's guy.

Agree with Vann. At what stage did Moss become a valid candidate? Barely as DC.

Not sure when he became (or even if he is) a valid H.C. candidate either. His name just keeps cropping up though and McKenzie himself did not rule out someone that has not been a Head Coach before either (that could of course just be playing his cards close to his chest).
I just have this feeling in my water - but maybe that's just the start of an infection.

I'm not going to be upset if we get Moss as HC, on twitter someone mentioned Al Saunders still as OC to keep it consistent. Be interesting to hear some of the other names.
Either way McKenzie i believe is a great great hire, if we take a few coaches from GB i wont mind as theyre a winning organisation. Shame we cant do a 'best mates' trade with GB for Matt Flynn (Similar to when NE took peanuts for Matt Cassel to KC)
I did like Hue, but i started getting nervous when we had ridiculous first halves against Miami/Green Bay, forget the defense for a second, the offense did nothing those two halves, embarassing to see. Was like the Art Shell era all over again. To be honest the KC game was very very lucky with that blocked FG and against SD, just terrible.
