I didn't like what Lance did with the Raiders and after his departure from Tennessee, I was among those that thought he would struggle to produce at USC.  However despite their problems with recruiting and the sanctions imposed, he seems to have them doing very well. As he has been named coach of the year by the LA sports council we may not have seen the last of him at all .

USC will probably be the preseason  number one team next year.
And young Lance has done it all with restricted scholarships.

Very impressive.

Raiders are still a young team....so cannot see them going 6-10 next season plus Denver, KC and Charger are now average teams.

Yeah sorry just meant 'if' we take a step backwards as Allen is rebuilding the team i just meant i wouldnt panic.

But on paper we have a very good squad, as most of us have said a slight improvement on defense (surely !!!) and we'll be in the playoffs.  I know its not all Chuck.B's fault but he get a lot of the blame, but with him gone surely the defense will improve ?

We just HAVE to stay away from any major injuries in training camp or preseason though, dying to see what Palmer/McFadden can do together

With Berry, Moeaki and Charles back that Chiefs team will suddenly look an awful lot better. And the Chargers have some clear issues that can be addressed to restore them to what they consider 'glory'. It could be a much more difficult division in 2012.

I believe that the Raiders will always give the extra effort for divisional games providing that they are given the leadership and tools to enable them to perform. Even with what was considered poor teams they always seem to be able to raise their game for the hated rivals. But it isn't just raising their game against the divisional teams that's needed it's against all opposition that I want to see them raise their game. But I don't realistically expect a huge improvement, if any, on the 8-8 record considering the amount of change that is occuring.

Well, it's not yet official, but it seems like we have out guy. So much for Moss being the shoe in guy huh? Nothing against Moss, but I'm pleased he was not hired - as has been suggested, it would have seemed too much of a 'comfort zone' hire, which would have always worried me. From what I've read, Allen will produce something of a tough, hard nosed, intense team - I like the sound of that! Smiley

I too, think it will take time to produce results - we need to be patient I think. As I've posted elsewhere, I don't think we will be making the playoffs next year. I too foresee another 8-8 year (maybe 9-7). I have doubts that will bring even a wild card next year. I know others disagree - I hope I am proven wrong on this one of course. Smiley

Yeah, this hire is a  risk (aren't they all?). I am starting to get a good feeling about it though. Just get the contract signed and the presser called! - Ihave this fear the guy will be lured elsewhere if he doesn't sign on the dotted line soon. Get it done Reggie!
