Raiders punter Shane Lechler, who is in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, actually played college ball with new Raiders coach Dennis Allen at Texas A&M.

“He’s a smart guy,” Lechler told the Associated Press. “He knows defenses well. He schemes really good. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the head coaching role. This will be his first time. We’ll see.”

Allen will have his have his hands full. The Raiders last year were one of the four teams to ever allow at least 30 TD passes and 5.0 yards per carry in a season.

The Raiders haven’t officially announced Allen’s hiring yet, but general manager Reggie McKenzie is on the way back from Mobile and a news conference should be scheduled shortly.

Surprised Lechler didnt throw his toys out of the pram when Hue Jackson went, the way Lechler acted once Cable was let go was ridiculous.

He had the chance to leave the Raiders but 'amazingly' he took the huge offer and decided to stay and then was also quiet about the coaching situation !  Amazing what $$$$ can do !
