BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula One | Raikkonen problem gifts Massa winAfter a qualifying session dominated by the Ferraris, the race was pretty much predictable. The only real question was which one would finish first. This was decided, not by them racing each other, but by an unfortunate failure of the exhaust on Raikkonen’s car. This reduced the power available and Massa took advantage to take the lead an eventually win the race. Raikkonen still managed to hold on for second place and Toyota’s Jarno Trulli held on for a podium finish. Lewis Hamilton, with a 10 place grid slot penalty for the incident in Montreal, started the race from 13th place and was again in trouble with the stewards early in the race when he went across a chicane in an overtaking manoeuvre that was deemed to give him an unfair advantage and he had to suffer the penalty of a pit lane drive through. This meant that he would not be scoring any championship points for the second race in a row, finishing 10th behind David Coulthard.
