Well as I sun myself  in a foreign land, the Raiders take on the Lions.

I'm a great Raiders fan but to be realistic a win on day one by 3 would do me.  McGowan to start but Culpepper to close out the game.  Hopefully with Al's support Kiffin will leads us to more wins than the last couple of season put together.   Grin

The wait is just about over......ya dancer!!!
New season new hope......hope season isnt finished by October that is!!!!
What with a game at wembley and Sky's 400 live game coverage (ok a little exageration) but hopefully all this will give the NFL the boost here similar to boost US soccer has been given by beckham.
Home turf and a  relatively poor opponent lets see a digit in the W column on Sunday

Josh McNown does not impress me at all. He had a sluggish pre-season and usless he has a breakout game against detroit. Expect alot of unhaappy  fans. Honestly this the biggest mistake kiffin has made since becoming head coach. Expect to see Culpepper sart in week three after a pedestrian performance by McNown over the next two weeks.

Well you can't lay the blame of this loss at McNown's feet. Yes he struggled in the 1st half and had two picks and a fumble, but you have to remember this is a team game. Seabass chucked two field goals, while a third blocked, leaving nine points on the field.  The defense the rock of the team gave up 36 points. This includes the go ahead touchdown after the offense took the lead.  The good news is they have the potential to get better on both sides of the ball, right now my biggest concern is how clutch Seabass is going to be.

Felt really downhearted last night after following the game on the NFL network.  I was concerned by the pass defence during preseason as the first team gave up a lot of yardage – same thing last night and it was only Kitna!!  At least we managed to hold the run.  Offensively, I thought McCown showed a lot of poise in bringing the team back but late in the game was forced to try to hard to due to a poor defensive display.  Well done the offence line in protecting the QB, but another poor running display – well done Jordan but he needs help, Fargas was dreadful. Only five games to go until Rhodes arrives but it might be to little too late.

The Guy JC on the Box put his finger right on the problem, we were to predicatble in defence with man on man coverage. and the Lions knew it!

The first half was very poor indeed but saying that Sapp led the line in the Second half and to me his sacking  the Lions QB Kitna  and that gave them the impertus to put on 21 points in the Second Half.  But bad plays gifted the Lions the victory.

So nightmare start in terms of result. Wether we lose by 1 or 100 pts , a loss at home to Detroit in season opener doesnt bode well.
Russell signing may give spark to get us through season knowing the seasons to come maybe better.
At least Scotland won!!!
