I know we have not mentioned it at all but as a Brit living in the US. I proud of the fact we have had our best Olympics in a century. Especally after how bad we at we were 12 years ago.

All of the lottery money invested in the sports has paid off big time. It will be hard to match this achievement in 4 years time even with the homefield advantage.. But there seems to be a great team spirit and a large number of the competitors will be back.

After the reception given to the team on their return, you could be forgiven for expecting the level of support and funding to be increased for the games in 2012. But you never know with this government.

The athletes have been a bunch of underachievers for a long time. They have not produced in the way that others sports have. The cyclists are among the best for returning results for the investment. Sailing is another sport that seems to produce even without a great deal of support.
